These are submitted by an individual who goes by the calling "808" Most Christians are looking for a specific ministry, or mission, or task to do for God to be of service to Him. Or we have some preconceived notion or plan to serve God through a specific work and we ask God to help us do it. Yet we fail to ask Him if it is His idea or ours. Mostly we become anxious if God takes too long to reveal "the ministry" God wants us to pursue. Yet the pattern Jesus set for us was to have "no mission" whatsoever, except to be "One with the Father." Because Jesus' effectiveness in revealing the plan, purpose, and love of God we due to one and only one thing. That was an initimate, constant contact with the Spirit of God. As Jesus was directed by the Spirit of God, He spoke, or touched, or healed. He did not heal everyone. He only healed those whom the Father directed Him to heal. Jesus knew that His ultimate "mission" was the cross. And as His disciples our ultimate "mission" is the cross. The cross is the place where we lay down our very lives for those around us. God would be most pleased with us if we would stop yearning for the "big event" or "grand ministry" and simply be so in touch with His Spirit during the mundane ordinary moments, that He could live His life through us, just as He did with Jesus. Let us stop wasting time looking to the future while those around us weep while we have a message that can turn their sorrow into joy. I dare say, that if we cannot develop contentment in the ordinary times, we will likely be of very little use to God in any "big ministry event." Give God every moment. If you develop this habit, you will eventually see more opportunities to be a blessing to others and to see the glory of God than you can possibly record.
